This forklift safety access cage or man cage is a safe and versatile means of accessing high spaces quickly and safely. Safer than a ladder and cheaper and quicker than erecting scaffolding our forklift access platforms are ideal for occasional work at height. This is a high quality man cage with a load capacity of 400 Kg and is suitable for 2 people working at height. There are 2 bars welded in the front 2 corners for lanyard attachment if required. The door opens internally so that no one can fall out and and closes smoothly and automatically with a spring and no vibration. A flick-over catch is also fitted for added protection to stop the forklift cage door accidentally being opened. The upper back section is hinged which allows it to fold flat when not in use saving space. A gas strut is used to hold the forklift cage back vertical - neat! Inward Opening Safety Access Door Finger Restricting Mesh The access door is inward opening for safety with a spring hinge. The back mesh panel is a close pitch mesh to prevent fingers or anything being trapped in the moving parts of the forklift carriage. 20mm Securing Shoot Bolt Alternatively secure with Chain The forklift cage is secured to the forklift carriage with a 20mm shoot bolt. This bolt locates behind the heel of the fork which totally prevents the forklift cage from moving. A chain attaches the bolt to the access cage so it is not lost and, when slid into position, there is an "R" clip which stops the bolt from coming out. When the access cage is not in use, the bolt is safely stored in the section of tube visible in the above image. There is an alternative securing method. There is a bracket fitted to the cage which allows a chain to be used to secure the access cage to the forklift carriage. This method is only needed if you have some unusual application, for example maybe a telehandler with long fork lengths, or maybe you have a non-standard fork heel design. Please note - Chain not included. Optional Safety Harness Safety Harness In Action Lanyard Buckle The optional safety harness ensures safe working at height and has a 1.8m fixed length rope lanyard. This safety harness conforms to EN 354, EN 361 and EN 358.
